In 2010 my good buddy, Zach Katz took me to my first ever music festival, The Big Up and it changed my life. I was shown a whole new universe and nothing would ever be the same. Three years and 25 music festivals later... after all the anticipation and hype, it was finally time for the jester's triumphant return to The Big Up!!!! when it finally arrived i cant even begin to describe the way i felt and how happy i was to be back. from start to finish it was the best experience one could ask for. It's truly an amazing thing to know that you are surrounded with friends everywhere you turn!! you couldn't avoid being around awesome people and the awesome vibe even if for some reason you wanted to. Thank you to everybody who made me feel like I was home. The Big Up is the best fucken festival out there-it's so hedde and they just do it right in every way. My favorite sets of the weekend were Jojo Maye/Nerve, Kung Fu (Special Prince Set) Gaudi, Normal Instruments, Shwizz and of course Dopapod. I literally could not stop laughing all weekend. At no point during the festival was I worried about not having enough water or getting dehydrated. My biggest concern and the only real worry I had was that I was going to spontaneously combust from laughing wayyyyy too hard. I want to thank every person who I raged a set with or shared a laugh/smile with. I am only as happy as the people around me are. There are way too many who I am grateful for. I would like to give a shout out to Amanda Sandwicch and Siedwook Jesus- I don't think anybody had any fucken clue what was going on when I ended up in a stroller during the Gaudi set. And I can't thank you enough for those delicious treats. There are way too many people I want to thank but they only let me tag a certain amount, but you'll know who you are. Thanks to everybody who made it so special for me and everyone in the fucken crew: My brothers Avi Newman and Rafi M Dym, my new best friend Ezzy Tenembaum, Tommy Mehl (Dr. Dre) Huge shout out to Kivi Hershenov: the man who made it all possible!!!! I want to thank the beautiful Miriam Em for taking such good care of piglet (I think piglet may have been a little too happy in your arms) It was great bonding time with Jay 'feel Good' Love it really meant a lot to me... David and Lauren- i can always count on you guys to be there for the good music and good vibes. My homies from Mun, Mike Nasser from Lazer Sex, Thank you to Yaron and Trevor for keeping up the "good looks." There is just too many to list but seriousla thanks to every single one of my Hedde Jew Tribe friends/family, all my Mr Bugsly friends/family: Harrizon, Zach, Chelsea etc my fucken crazy and hilarious Biscuit homies. you guys mean the world to me. SPECIAL SPECIAL SPECIAL thank you to Piglet for making myself and everybody smile all weekend... And most of all the biggest Thank you goes to the fucken man himself Jules Jenssen not enough words can be said to show my gratitude. I can't even imagine how much work you put into this to make it all possible for us. None of this would be possible if it wasn't for you and the effort you put in. Not only is Jules Jenssen one of the most badass/kick ass drummers out there, but i would seriously murder people for that head of hair. Bottom line is you guys are all fucken nuts and i love and appreciate every single of you. There are so few festivals left with a vibe like that and it's something special. I have never laughed so hard in a weekend before.
Michael genuinely loves people and music and music festivals can't stop won't stop see you bitches at the next one - Michael Lippman - The Jester The results are in! Our very own Mother's Wine, and New Jersey's Fish House Road have won Equifunk's contest for the last remaining slots!
"With so many great submissions, it was no easy task choosing just 1 winner... And with that, we'd like to announce BOTH of our WINNERS..." read Equifunk's Facebook Page this afternoon. It really is a great opportunity for both bands. Equifunk prides itself on being an All-Inclusive Music Festival. It lives up to that. Featuring some of the best Funk acts on this planet, it truly is one of the best Summer Music Festivals of the summer. Conceived in 2008, Equifunk has grown tremendously in just a few short years. The intimate music festival is held annually in late August at Camps Equinunk and Blue Ridge in Pennsylvania's Pocono Mountains. Bands and DJs play at the lakeside pool party during the day and perform throughout the night at the camp's state of the art "E-rena." The all-inclusive weekend event pass guarantees access to all live music, meals, drinks, use of all facilities and comfortable lodging accommodations in the camp's newly renovated cabins or camping fields. Yes...a Pool Party, Live Music and Drinks...You know what to do. Good Love
